Use this software for first time USB installations only. Do NOT attach USB cable until prompted by the installation program. The driver contained in this download package is the PCL 6 driver for Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003 and is the same PCL 6 driver found on the HP Color LaserJet 2605/2605dn/2605dtn version 2.0 CD.

The HP Color LaserJet 2605 PCL 6 plug and play package (clj2605_PS_PnP_win2kxp2003.exe) provides the following:

  • An EZInstall program to assist with installation.
  • Plug and Play installable PCL 6 printer driver.
    • Windows 2000/XP/2003 - HP Color LaserJet 2605 PCL 6 or HP Color LaserJet 2605dn_2605dtn PCL 6 printer driver.
  • A silent install is provided by running the program from a DOS prompt or command line (see the installation instructions for details).

This section will help you in the download of the software to your computer and start you on the install process. Below are easy-to-follow instructions for downloading and installing the full printing solution.

NOTE: Due to the size of this download, HP recommends dial-up customers order this software on CD.

  1. Close any screen savers, virus protection programs, or other software programs running on your computer.
  2. Click on Download and a File Download box will appear.
  3. Select Save and a Save As box will appear.
  4. Select a directory to save the file in and click Save.
  5. Locate the file (i.e. hp_CLJ2605_Full_Solution_.exe) using Windows Explorer when the download has completed.
  6. Double click on the file. This will extract all the driver files into a directory on your hard drive. The directory these files are extracted to will have a similar name to the printer model that was downloaded (i.e., c: hp_CLJ2605_Full_
