HP LaserJet SAP Device Type. This device type is a configuration file for the SAP printer driver that ensures proper functionality between the SAP data stream and the printer. A device type must be specified to enable direct printing from SAP applications to this printer.

Installation Instructions

HP device types can be imported into your SAP system using either the SAP SE38 or SPAD transaction.
  • Importing a Device Type with the SE38 Transaction
    1. Download the SAP device type and save the .pri file to a directory on your computer.
    2. Logon to SAP and select the SE38 transaction.
    3. Type in RSTXSCRP in the field to the right of program.
    4. Select the execute button in the upper left corner of the screen (check mark inside the clock).
    5. When the report appears, select the Device Type radio button.
    6. Type in IMPORT in the field to the right of Mode.
    7. Type in the name of the device type you want to import in the field to the right of object name.
    8. Select the Execute button (check mark inside the clock).
    9. Select the Local Object button.
    10. Select the path for the device type, highlight the device type you want, and select Open.
    11. When the import process is complete, a message will appear on screen stating "Object successfully imported."

  • Importing a Device Type with the SPAD Transaction
    1. Download the SAP device type and save the .pri file to a directory on your computer.
    2. Logon to SAP and select the SPAD transaction.
    3. Select Utilities at the top of the screen, select For Device Types, and then select Import.
