  1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

Diskette Folder - Create a Bootable DisketteThe Diskette folder contains an .EXE file that creates a bootable diskette, which can be used to upgrade the firmware on the 40-GB Samsung hard drive. To create a bootable diskette and upgrade the firmware, complete the following steps:
  1. At the DOS prompt, navigate to the Diskette folder (by default C:SWSetupSP30327Diskette).
  2. To begin creating a bootable diskette, type the following command and then follow the on-screen instructions: SAMSUNG.EXE A:
  3. Place the bootable diskette in the diskette drive of the desktop in which the 40-GB Samsung hard drive is installed. Restart the desktop. The diskette runs automatically; no user interaction is required. When the firmware upgrade is complete, the DOS prompt A:> is displayed.
  4. After the firmware has been updated, the desktop must be power cycled to complete the firmware update.
Files Folder - Create Other Bootable MediaThe Files folder contains the files that are needed to upgrade the 40-GB Samsung hard drive using bootable media other than a diskette. To create bootable media and upgrade the firmware, complete the following steps:
  1. Copy all four files contained in the Files folder to the appropriate media (for example, Disk-On-Key).
  2. Restart the desktop to a DOS prompt.
